Reflection on the Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver

Winter Olympics in Vancouver are coming to a close this weekend. Canada has done a superb job hosting the games and in general the games have been a success with scores of memorable events.

Vancouver Olympic stadium, the indoor arena where the Opening Ceremony took place, and all the Olympic venues, from immaculately prepared speed skating track, short track, ski jumping, freestyle skiing and snowboard events to cross-country, Nordic combined and alpine skiing events have been all magnificently prepared and run even though the weather has not been always too cooperative.

The only dark shadow hanging over the games has been the luge death of an Olympic athlete on the Whistler Mountain track. While the heat of the competition is still going on and all the luge, skeleton and bobsleigh events have completed without further mishap, track design and safety guidelines for the future remain to be set forth.

Yet to be decided, the men’s Olympic hockey tournament, Canada’s supreme Olympic sport, has shown that the gap between the best professional hockey players in the NHL and those that play in European or Russian leagues is not as wide in terms of skill although it is in wages.

The older players, on brink of retirement from the NHL and at twilight of their careers, showed plenty of skill and stamina and proving they can still compete against the young hockey stars. Unfortunately players like Peter Forsberg and Teemu Selene will not return. And neither will Jaromir Jagr, who at 38 too played his last game at the Olympics.

It was great to see the lower ranked teams like Norway, that showed remarkable results, had players on the roster that are in fact holding onto regular jobs. They played with a true heart.

The NHL players, however, for the most part, including hockey stars the likes of Ovechkin, Malkin and Crosby, have so far delivered rather lukewarm performance and their bench looked rather subdued, a far cry from enthusiasm of NHL playoff games, as if they have been saving themselves for the reminder of the NHL season.

Today the Olympic Games continue with ladies slalom, short track relay finals, the US takes on Finland and Canada faces off against Slovakia in the Olympic hockey semifinals.

The Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver 2010 Closing Ceremony is scheduled for February 28. And suddenly, London, the host of the Summer Olympic Games 2012, looms convincingly ahead.

Wii Fit Available Online

The weather is turning colder. We’re still digesting our Thanksgiving dinner. It’s the time of year that kids all around the world begin asking for all sorts of games and toys. What’s at the top of the list this season? Most likely a Wii bundle.

The Wii Fit is one of the hottest simulation games on the market these days. It shares real-life situations with a dash of simulation.

Wii Fit In Stock

The challenge right now is finding a wii fit in stock. If you would like to buy one it just not as easy as going to the local big box store and picking one up. Nor is it always easy to find one online when you want one. Don’t worry about that just yet. I’ll share my secret place for getting one nearly anytime you want it and for a fraction of the price you might expect to pay.

If you’d like to know a bit more about the game and the benefits it’s easy to go to the official WII site and get the scoop. Between the Body Test and the training programs you’re sure to get a good handle on your fitness levels.

It has a BMI, or Body Mass Index, that measures your body fat and composition. Your character in the game won’t let you forget about your BMI but also acts as a sort of trainer. People who have been playing the game for a while swear by it and have seen some very good results. Tracking your progress is key in maintaining your motivation and can be a huge help in your overall performance.

The Training modes include yoga, balance games, strength training and aerobics. You actually follow along with your onscreen character and go through various workouts to improve your fitness level. You can do various strength training routines to improve your overall body tone and the fit pad will measure your success.

The virtual caricatures, which are unique to the Wii, represent you as you use the fit board to go through the game. While not always 100% correct the caricature can change its shape as yours changes. This game really draws you in and reminds me a bit of the SIMS game.

Wii Fit Available Online

As previously mentioned finding a wii fit available online can be challenging. My secret site is auctions4acause.com where I can get one anytime I want. They are always in stock and if you play your cards right you can get it for much less than retail.

Modern Golf Tips To Boost Clubhead Speed?

February 26, 2010 by makikok · Comments Off
Filed under: General

Highly Increased clubhead speed will help you to play more consistently, drive straighter and further, and you will score better. Golf knowledge is a golfers best investment and this also applies to golf clubhead speed. If you would like golf distance tips you must first understand the sources of power in the golf swing and how to apply that power for maximum distance in a efficient manner.

Golf swing power is the sum of three specific components. Two of the three are much more critical, than the third, but the third does have an influence, on how far you hit that golf ball. Those three factors are, golf swing mechanics, golf strength, and golf equipment.

Most golfers know how important the mechanics of the golf swing are when it comes to driving the ball down the middle of the fairway. Good golf swing mechanics are a must. If you hit over the top with your golf swing or hit inside too much, you’ll see that ugly slice or snap hook. Your drives will be short, too low or too high, left or right, or a combination of these bad habits that can ruin a golf swing.

It is important for most golfers to work on the swing mechanics, week in and week out, to improve one’s golf game. If golf swings mechanics weren’t that critical, why would tour players, the best golfers in the world, have swing instructors working with them on a regular basis? The golf swing is such a precise, mechanically complicated movement, it requires continuous work to keep it in a highly efficient mode. Proper golf swing mechanics, can go along way, with golf hitting distance instruction from a good golf instructor.
