Growing Strawberries On Patio, the best combination to have the longest period of fresh strawberries is:
Strawberry Christine – Strawberry Christine can be harvested very early – usually around 4th June. The strawberries are a bright orangey-red, large and pick pretty well; also they do not bruise easily. Christine strawberries have good resistance to a number of strawberry diseases including mildew, wilt and spider mite.
Strawberry Alice Strawberry Alice has been bred to have the very best of everything its fruits are large, firm and juicy, and has a flavour that is indescribably delicious! The Strawberry Alice plants are vigorous and show good resistance to Verticillium Wilt and Crown Rot. The perfect choice if you only have room for one variety, as it is trouble free and easy to pick. Alice is one of the best mid season varieties.
Flowers in May and fruits from June until early July. Suitable for growing in containers.
Strawberry Albion - Albion is a heavy cropping and disease resistant variety which produces a good crop of large, deliciously flavored berries right through the summer. Plants are moderately resistant to Verticillium Wilt but highly resistant to Crown Rot. Strawberry Albion crop from late June to early October in several flushes. It is an ideal variety for containers on the patio.
So by combining 3 different varieties it is possible to have fresh Strawberries straight from your garden or patio.
