Insurance Coverage For High Cost Jewelry

July 29th, 2010
Comments Off

The usual type of personal jewelry insurance coverage is replacement value insurance. The insurance company will only pay up to a fixed amount to replace the diamond  or jewelry that was  stolen or broken  beyond repair. This does not mean that the insurance company will pay the policy face value ,it means that they will pay or replace up to the coverage limit. In most cases, this will be under the the total value listed on the policy.

Your rates  will be determined by the value of the jewelry, the type of coverage  that you want, and the area of the country that you live in. If you reside in an area with a high crime rate, you can expect to pay more for your jewelry insurance coverage. It is important to remember that insurance agents are not qualified jewelers .It is best to get an appraisal and photo for your  jewelry, and to provide the insurance company with a copy. For example if you are covering a platinum wedding band make sure to list the weight, width and thickness. This leaves the insurance company less room replacement shortcuts verses the  actual   replacement cost .

Don’trely on a  house insurance or renters policy to cover your more costly  jewelry.  Most policies  limit coverage to under $500.00 and also limit it to theft while at home. You need to look into buying an additional rider  that provides full replacement coverage for loss, theft and damage.  The yearly fee  can be a lot less than you may think.

If you feel better  with a special policy so you don’t have to make a claim against your home owners ( force a rate increase) you may look into independent insurance coverage. Companies like Jewelers Mutual cover both jewelry stores and consumers with specific  low cost jewelry policies. Other well known names include Chubb Insurance which I know has been around for a long time .

The bottom line is if you purchase  an expensive  engagement  ring or wedding band get all risk insurance coverage. Buying the right coverage  gets pushed aside when you are paying for other wedding items. Many couples plan destination weddings and spend hours searching for a qualified San Antonio wedding photographer but spending five  minutes to buy coverage for her new platinum wedding bands is overlooked. Many couples go the the lake or beach for their honeymoon and have the ring lost in the ocean or it get stolen from the hotel room. Many policies cost less than $50.00 per year to protect you while at home or away.

How Can Your Business Use Barcodes

October 9th, 2009
Comments Off

As changes in the world of commerce happen faster and faster, business owners have to scramble at an ever increasing pace just to keep up. Day to day office tasks such as stock control, asset management, and other chores can be performed much more productively because of the advances in computer technology – such as the development of barcode systems.

While the barcode systems used by large businesses have been modified and scaled down for small business, they still deliver the punch of those designed for much larger companies. If that weren’t enough, they come ready to use, right out of the box.

A list of all the vast uses and advantages of barcodes and barcode scanners, would take up far too much space, so here are just some of the major points that might be of use to your company.

For example, hospitals use them to inventory their stocks of medicine, equipment, and even to keep track of patients. Another example is how in a manufacturing plant it is possible to follow raw material inventory, right to when it emerges as finished goods – all made possible by barcode technology.

Barcode scanners and printers make it easy to take orders directly and fulfill them. From start to finish there is virtually no chance that a mistake will occur because everything is coded and can be tracked or traced all along the production line.

The technology allows you to promote special new products, upcoming sales, concerts, or open houses. Imagine the possibilities you can make happen with relatively simple, easily implemented barcode technology. This, in effect, turns what you produce into little ambassadors, or an unpaid sales force, working for you twenty four hours a day.

The era of barcodes is here to stay, and the sooner a small to medium-sized business, or department of a large corporation embraces this technology, the more efficiently it will perform on a day to day basis. Then when year-end comes around, the bottom line will be better too.

A Marketer is King

September 11th, 2009

Don’t you think its odd that when businesses hit hard times they slash overhead and with it their most valuable resource? The other day I was online discussing this issue with a friend of mine on a money making message board called WarriorForum.

The problem with downsizing is that when you reduce your marketing efforts your sales will inevitably decrease as a result.

If you’re net revenue decreases you will have less operating capital to work with and you will be forced to take additional cost cutting measures. Letting people go is a last resort of a failing company that refuses to search for additional make money opportunities. The fact of the matter is that the need to retain employees has never been greater.

Whatever you need to do in regard to termination to stay afloat, be careful to not eliminate sales positions or even jobs that support the sales function. With the economic environment the way it is, every company should realize that sales and cash flow are going to be what gets them out of this crisis. Think about what is going to drive sales, show your team that you are extremely supportive and let them know you’re willing to back them with market research marketing dollars if that’s what it takes to boost your bottom line.

Make cash flow a number one priority by offering incentives for increased performance and bonuses for bringing in new clients. These days if you can survive in these types of conditions, you will thrive when the world economy improves. Keep in mind that the longer you can hold on to your employees the longer you can fend off the competition that is standing ready to hire your experienced staff.
